Canon Background: http://disney.wikia.com/wiki/Claude_Frollo
AU Background/Personality: I am basing his personality on the Disney's film version rather than the book version. The reason is because in the book version, he's a completely different character and different personality all together. However, for his AU history and childhood to explain toward the complexities of his adult life, it was based on the events happened in the book.
Frollo was born and raised in Chaodan, Stratholme a town known that was open to frequent attacks from the creatures of the Rift. Frollo father was a guard who protected the town, but he died when he and the military company he was working with were attacked by the Rift Creatures that was assualting the town. When Frollo's father came home, he carried the infection of Corruption that the Rift creatures carried. As a child, Frollo watched his father in horror as his father turned into a monster from the disease.
At that time, Frollo's mother is pregnant with his younger brother Jehan. Fearing for their safety as their father is wrestling with the incurable taint of the disease , they escape and run, abandoning the father behind leaving him. The young family escaped to Imperial City unscathed, but the trauma of leaving their father behind with Frollo never knowing if his father turned insanity, become a monster, or have died.
As Frollo grew up, he assumed his father has died, but felt bitter that he can't do anything about it. He has little memory as a child where he witnessed the Rift Monsters attacking the town, the Corruption that tore his father asunder, and the force abandonment to leave his father to his fate. The trauma of his childhood was repressed and the real events that happened as a child cannot be remembered precisely.
The move to Imperial City was far from happy. Jehan was soon born and the family of three lived a hard life together. Eventually, Frollo's mother died when Frollo was a teenager from the stress of poverty and hardship. Being a single mother to support two children can be hard indeed. Frollo worked hard in school and it turns out he has a high IQ and a brilliant scholar. Being a religious man, he served the Church for financial revenue for his schooling and studies in Theology, Sciences, some Medicine, Language, philosophy, and then soon his interests in career specialize in the Judical Law.
During his schooling, he also discovered the knowledge of the Occult and Alchemy. Although he comdemns the usage of the Dark Arts and sees Alchemy and all forms of magic as offending and an abomination to God, he began to learn the art of Alchemy throughout his entire lifetime to use it for his advantage. He's also a hypocrite. He won't hesitate comdemning others to learn and use the knowledge for themselves, but he in turn, also have the knowledge. He kept his magical studies of alchemy a secret, thus the Church doesn't know of his dark activities. With his knowledge of sciences, he blends his knowledge of Alchemy with chemistry to create poisons, potions, and chemicals which he used to experiment and torture on his victims and criminals when he does interrogations to get information.
Once he gained a stable footing in his career, there is still enough compassion in Frollo's heart to support his last remaining family Jehan. However, his heart becomes harden when he found that his brother has stolen his money to buy drugs and alchohol. Frollo stop supporting his brother financially. This lead to a big fight and a huge argument that made stop talking to each other, thus cutting off the brother ties. Six months later, he found out that his brother died from the heavy substance-abuse.
With his mother having died from overworking hard as being the poorest of the poor and his brother having died from alcoholism, this crushed Frollo's heart completely to the point that his heart becomes twisted with hatred and arrogance against the people below his station. He began to see the Sin and greed in everyone, judging them and criticizing them for their flaws. Being a victim of circumstances beyond his control, he sees himself as the one who is righteous and pure in order to be strong. This was to hide the fact that he was not admitting that he grieves for himself, seeing as things like love and tender as a weakness especially in his line of work.
Little did he know is that his preoccuption and obsession in cleasing the Sin of everyone and purify the world of Sin has subconsciously to do with the unhealed wound in his childhood where his father was tained by Corruption. A memory that is long forgotten from his past...
Personality: Frollo is emotionally cold, intelligent, arrogant, and when things doesn't go his way as he wanted, he can be extremely vindictive against the person who wronged him. Frollo can also be very obssessed in purging the world of vice and sin, but is extremely blind to his own flaws. He's aware of his own flaws, but won't admit to them nor would he do anything to correct himself. He used the Law of the Church and God to fuel his entitlement to self-righteousness and has a very limited narrow-viewpoint making him close-minded to other ideas.
Frollo is extremely intelligent, calculative, and cautious. He always planned his move one step ahead of his game before charging in and carry out his plans. When he corners on his victim allowing them with no chance or room escape, he strike fast and hard, using the system of the law to his advantage. During his mundane days, he's a workaholic, and he constantly works around the clock because his skills as a Judge is in high-demand by the Church to cleanse the criminals that is stressing them or threatening to undermine their power.
In this AU, despite being a general genocidal sadist, he is merely human and he does have a little compassion and general understanding considering how human beings are treated. Frollo wanted to see himself as a fair and just man, and this pride lead him to excercise his perception of ethics towards others. This judgement would leave to spare people who he sees have talent or any use to him and not for society. However, his hatred, spiritual blindness, and obsession would be his downfall.
The only people who can override his judgement and soften the judgement he puts upon others is usually the jury and lawyers at the Courthouse he worked at, the more compassionate and humanitarian members of the Church, and people of honorable professions.
Combat Style: Frollo is actually good at handling a sword and a dagger. While he's not exceptionally skilled as a soldier or swordsman, he can be very deadly with a blade. He's also a good horse-back rider. His secondary combat style is using the combination of alchemy and chemicals to create poison and potions to drug his victims or criminals for use of torture and extracting information. He may also used his assigned tarot cards to his advantaged.
Kingdom or Faction: Active member of the Church
Primary Role: Magistrate, Judge, Justice Minister, the Executioner (coming from his track record of ordering death sentences to criminals). Magistrates are the investigators and legal authorities in the empire. They gather evidence, witnesses, and statements in order to bring charges against those who violate the laws of the empire. Judges can gain official admittance anywhere. In this case, he will protect members of the Church.
Secondary Role: He probably won't get this secondary role until much later in the game, but I am planning for Frollo to be so power hungry that he wanted to be a Pope to gain control of the Church. It would be a good motivation for his ambitious intentions. This probably won't happen for months later into the game. As the author, I foresee that his Popedom may or may not happen! We shall see.

Title: Judge Claude Frollo, Minister Frollo
Artifacts: N/A
Setting Considerations: Judge Claude Frollo primary works in the Court House. He sometime splits working and visiting the Prison house to see the prisoners he condemned. It was where he gave orders as to how they should be tortured. He also works in conjunction with the Church. In the Courthouse, he has jurisdiction in sending the criminals to prison, determine their life sentence, and determine the death sentence of a criminal.

The Fool
Question: You are about to embark upon a grand journey. What do you carry in your satchel?
When I was a young, it would be the Cross with the Cruxicifiction of the Son of God, a prayer card with The Holy Mother, my books, and the Bible. At my hip, there would be a dagger.

My rival is my enemy. If there is some vital information that he knows that I do not, then this is a liability to the entire Kingdom and lives can be at stake. I would not allow this one slip up to happen. I would tear the man down to his barest bones to reveal his weakness until he confessed.

Claim them as both guilty of the crime and throw them both in jail until their innocence is proven by the law.
The Hermit
Question: The pressures of court have become too much for you to bear, what do you do?
The pressures of the Court is my speciality. If anything, I am the one who is responsible for putting the pressure to everyone in court because they know I can order a person's execution if the law has proven they have a stained criminal track record. What is this becoming too much for me to bear are you talking about? Are you daft?
Wheel of Fortune
Question: You are given the opportunity to bet everything you have for great fortune, should you win you will be granted the wealth of kings but should you lose you will lose everything. What do you do?
Wealth is the symbol of Greed and vice. I wouldn't do it. I'm doing God's work here.
(The muse lies. He would so do it to gain the power of a king and he wanted the money to use to gain more power.)
Strength
Question: What do you do in the face of great adversity?
Chase whatever or whoever is tormenting me to the very end, even if it's an insane reason and even if the means of death of many people involved - myself included - then I don't care. As long it gets the job done.
The Hanged Man
Question: For what cause are you willing to sacrifice yourself?
For God, for justice, for my obssession, to put an end to my madness, and to attain a sense of purity.

Ugh, I would to go. And if there gypsies or people of lower-classed involved...nevermind. I shall attend and accept the gifts because it's a part of my duty. I need to go to keep up a good image and reputation for my career and for the people.
The Devil
Question: What vices keep you from achieving your true potential?
The Tower
Question: Everything you love and held dear has been taken from you in the blink of an eye. What do you do?
It was done already and I don't care. I don't feel anything for the losses I have. I don't endure my grief like most weak-minded and weak-hearted people.

Question: What are your aspirations?
The Moon
Question: What do you make of your dreams?
The Sun
Question: What do you need to know that you do not know already?
(The muse is actually thoughtful and yet highly disturbed by his own answer.) What would happen to my soul when I die...?
Judgement
Question: Who deserves to pass judgment upon you, and who do you deserve to judge?
Only God and his angels have the right to judge me. Everything else, it's nobody else business. As for the last question, any people who full of vice and Sin, then they are God's lambs that needs to be purified.
The World
Question: At the end of the journey, what remains in your satchel?
The books are burned by the hellish flames of war. The nightmare remains until there is no more dreams. The dagger that becomes the long sword is bloodied and broken and is buried deep into the piles of corpses of my enemies. The Cross that hung around my neck was missing, presumably gone on the battlefield. What was loss cannot be return and was loss is loss forever no matter how many prayers I call for, there is no mercy, pity, or compassion. Nothing is left for me to Judge the sins of the tainted damned criminals that wandered on the crusts of the Earth.
"For all flesh is as the grass and all the glory of man is as the flower of grass.
The grass withereth, the flower thereof falleth away,
but the Word of our God shall endureth forever."
First epistle of Peter 1:24-25, New Testament
What only remains at the end of my journey is my soul for God to take or perhaps my soul shall be heading toward the fiery Hellfires where I too will be accounted for my countless of sins.
